Fred has 45 years of experience in the investment management business, and is founder of Speece Thorson Capital Group, Inc. Fred is the past chair of the Board of Governors of CFA Institute, Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of the Research Foundation, ICFA, and the Financial Analysts Seminar. The CFA Institute awarded him the Alfred C. Morley Distinguished Service Award and the C. Steward Sheppard Leadership Award. The CFA Institute Research Foundation inducted him into the leadership Circle. He has been an adjunct faculty member in the Graduate School of Business at the University of St. Thomas and the University of Minnesota. From 1980 – 1992, Fred was at First Asset Management in Minneapolis and began his career at Illinois National Bank, working there from 1970 – 1980. He holds a BBA from Ohio University and an MBA from Western Michigan University and is a CFA Charterholder and member of the CFA Society of Minnesota. He frequently speaks on investing at CFA Institute conferences and local analyst societies around the country.
